Music in the park

Today was a pretty busy day for me – meeting about small groups, meeting with my boss, and meeting about the library ministry. In between all of that, a lot of calling new people and people wanting to serve at the church. The day went by really quickly.

Which was good, because once again I couldn’t sleep well. I think I got maybe 5 or 6 hours last night. I don’t know what is wrong. Albert says I am still decompressing from my former job. I dunno about that.

In the evening, we met Jamie’s family for a nice performance at the Davis park. I don’t know what the place is called – it’s where the Farmer’s Market is. Their son Andrew was playing trumpet. The kids were a bit skeptical as to how good it would be, but they were pretty impressed, especially since the first song was their favorite – Star Wars!

We like Davis! Such nice weather, beautiful park, nice music, so family friendly, and not that crowded! The picture above captures how there are so many nice trees in this area. It’s also the magic of cropping – you don’t see all the kids and bodies scattered around in front of the band! And the band hides the view of the street and all the cars driving around. Ah, the magic of photography!

Albert thought the bass player was way cool. He played an electronic double bass. I liked the sax player. Too bad I will never play sax – just way too many instruments that look fun to play!

And here’s a picture of Albert and the kids below. Albert packed a nice dinner up for us – sandwiches, fruit, and chips. It’s been ages since we’ve had a picnic. We sure are enjoying these family times together!

Afterwards Jamie treated us to ice cream at Baskin Robbins! It was kind of funny – everyone knows them. We ran into at least 3 or 4 family units they knew in the park, and then another 3 or 4 groups at Baskin Robbins. It was also nice to meet their boys.

Feeling very dragging now… big urge to sleep at my desk… resisted and now I have a second wind, but must head to bed soon!

Megan was skeptical as to how good it was. I merely asked if high school bands were usually any good. Yes, I’m such a nice brother. ;D
