Worthy of Food Network — NOT!

Work has been a bit stressful lately, so I haven’t been posting very much. But tonight I thought I would post a totally mindless and mundane blog about… burned eggs.

I didn’t know it was possible, but I am a genius. I tried to boil eggs and ended up burning them instead.

However, later in the evening, my son and I baked a lemon-cornmeal cake from a recipe I found in Woman’s Day magazine. It said to bake it in a bundt pan.

However, since my son made sad Bambi eyes at me when he found out I was planning to cart the cake off to a potluck without allowing him a single bite, I relented and we made a little cake for the family.

It was sooo good. The lemon-sugar glaze soaked in and made the cake very moist. Albert said it was the best cake he has ever had and started dreaming up variations to make sweet-savory cornbreads… until I told him the recipe had two sticks of butter in it.

Well, maybe we will have it… once in a while… a very long while…

Or tomorrow.

Unfortunately, the bundt cake didn’t taste half as good. The glaze didn’t soak through like in the cake pan. Next time I will just make it in a pan. A lot less work and more delicious as well!

Oops. I deviated from my stated purpose about a boring blog about burned eggs. Rats. I always have a hard time focusing.
