Son is driving!

After many many periods of pulling teeth, much groaning and finally threatening the loss of Internet privileges, our son is driving!

Kind of.

It is kind of funny how it seems like so many more kids these days seem to not want to drive. Neither of our kids has had any desire to drive and some of their friends are not into learning either. I suppose since we are a biking town, people can get just about anywhere via bike and the bus is free for students, so there is no urgent need to drive!

However, Albert and I decided it was time for our reluctant son to step behind the wheel. Albert has been teaching Daniel how to drive. They actually started this summer…and now it is October, and Daniel still hasn’t driven all that much. However, he’s moving along… slowly. Our goal is to get him to drive so that he can help us drive down to southern California to visit his sister. I’m pretty much useless behind the wheel (zzzzzz…) and Albert has a bad back that is affected by long drives. Son is young and healthy, ergo he should be driving!

Or thus goes the logic…We’ll see if it actually happens!

This is actually pretty common nowadays! See this news article:

By the way, Daniel really looks like Albert’s mom in this picture. I think it is the angle of the chin.

Very interesting. I had not thought of Internet access as a factor but it totally makes sense. And yes, the friends that our kids have that don’t want to drive use the Internet a lot! 🙂
