Protege internship

This year, my church started an internship program called Protege. We have 7 interns who have joined us in different areas such as junior high ministry, children’s ministry, pastoral care, and others. This past two months, I had the privilege of leading them in a class.

I totally love this video. As a designer, I usually design for adults. It’s very interesting seeing how a 5-year-old interprets logos!

Iron Chef Davis

Like mother, like daughter.

Megan loves to do videos. In college, she wants to study film making. Her project this past week is an example of her mad video skills.

Introducing the Ministry Directors

This week, I got to work on a fun video to introduce the Ministry Directors (pastors) to the congregation. I told everyone to think of an animal that represented them and this is what we ended up with.

Gospel of John stage design

My church just started a new sermon series on the Gospel of John. It’s a long series… something like 14 weeks, so we decided to change over the stage for the series.

There is a DVD on the Gospel of John and as I was watching it, I was inspired by Israel’s countryside and tents that were in the video. I wanted to create a set that felt like it was back in Bible times. So I got out my handy dandy Illustrator program and threw together a quick design idea.

We worked on a new set design this week, which is supposed to be a modern day interpretation of 1st century Israel, kind of a fishing dock feel. However, it was seriously lacking something.

Today Albert and I were at Lowe’s where I discovered they had 8′ palm trees for $10 each! This was exactly what was needed.

Christmas Eve stage design

This Christmas our church did a modified program based on WillowCreek’s Imagine Christmas. The setting was an outdoor forest scene. Our stage is minuscule compared to Willow’s, as well as our budget. So we had to come up something a little different.

December stage design

In December, we put up a stage design for the weeks before Christmas. It was a simple design with big impact — lots of positive compliments. Ironically, the “simple” design ended up being way more work than we anticipated!
