San Diego cohort retreat

Last night I flew down to San Diego for a week of learning. Today was the first day of a two-day Leadership Cohort retreat. This is our second retreat (out of three) this year.

Baby nephew photo shoot

Today my sister Corrie came over for a visit and I took advantage of it by having a quick photo shoot of my adorable nephew.

First shot was what my sister calls the “starfish pose.”

Canon vs. Nikon

I am trying out a Canon EOS 60D this week. Although I’ve used Nikon for years, I have wanted to try out Canon for a while.

And this is what I found… A flower in my back yard.

I posted the rest of my findings on Design Arts Today. Click here to read it.

Baby shower

It’s been ages since I’ve gone to a baby shower. Yesterday I had a chance to go to my friend Kristin’s shower. It was great fun going around taking pictures of the festivities.

Of course, I spent a bunch of time taking pictures of the food. The house had amazing natural lighting and some of these photos looked like they came out of a food magazine!

New blog — Design Arts Today

I’m happy to announce a new blog I’ve started! (Yes, yet another blog.) Design Arts Today is a blog that was created to help inspire, equip, and develop those interested in growing in their visual and artistic abilities.

Spring in the air

The other day we took a quick trip down to visit Albert’s sister, who was in town. It was a very quick trip and spur of the moment — got kids from school jumped into the car, got to the Bay Area, had dinner, jumped back in the car and came home. Albert’s sister’s family was only in the Bay Area very briefly.

On the way down, I really loved looking at the green hills. Around here most of the year things are kind of dead-looking due to the semi-arid environment. But due to all the rain, the landscape looks beautiful now!

Pink and green

It’s been a while since I made jewelry, but yesterday and today I got a chance to make some earrings. Like this pair.

Color profiles: making pictures look good on the web

Over the past few months I have noticed how my photos in my blog just don’t look so good on my iPad. They look great on my computer, but when I look at the iPad, they look a bit lifeless and dull.

I finally discovered the culprit.
