My daughter loves to sing. Ever since she was a baby walking around all day with her sippy cup and singing nonsense, she has continued to sing in all situations and locations.
In addition, she is very interested in movie making, including video and audio recording. Two days ago she was so excited because she got a new microphone!
In the past 5 years, I haven’t had much opportunity to develop musical skills due to being on staff overseeing other areas besides worship ministry. I really love to grow and learn, so the last few months felt like I needed to be a little more intentionally in growing musically.
Enter, my Moleskine music notebook!
Last night our family went to watch Megan perform in her school musical, Godspell. It was the first time she has been in a musical since she was like 6 years old (back at our church) — actually the only time she has been in a school performance! It was a blast!
Thursday Albert and I drove down to Fresno to drop Megan off at the All-State Orchestra. She was down there Friday and Saturday and today we went down again to see the concert before picking her up and driving her home.
Albert took some videos so I uploaded them today!
On Wednesday, Megan played her first solo at the orchestra concert. This was the junior high orchestra concert for her school. It was the first year her school performed by itself — previous years had all the schools. But the music program has grown so much that now there would be 150 kids in the orchestra! And forget about having a place for parents to sit in the audience!
Last night I had the pleasure of being a designated photographer for the Sacramento Youth Symphony. Their Veterans Day concert was outstanding!
As I mentioned before, music is a pretty central part of our family.
