Music, lovely music

Our family loves music.

After all, my parents met at a music competition. So I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for their love of music.

Finale concert and mini miracle

Boy am I waaaaaay behind in blogging. It has been an incredibly busy week! All my time was pretty much taken up with mostly work and family. No time for blogging. I knew that I had fallen behind when within two days, two of my work buds mentioned my blogs had disappeared lately. (its nice to know someone actually read these things! :-) ) So now I am catching up…

Last SYS Premier Orchestra performance

On Saturday Megan had her last performance (in the U.S.) with the Sacramento Youth Symphony Premiere Orchestra.

Picture Mom at the SYS Mega Concert

Yesterday (Sunday) I attended the Sacramento Youth Symphony Mega Concert. It was called the Mega Concert because it featured every single orchestra and ensemble from the SYS.

Picture Mom strikes at Sacramento Youth Symphony concert

February 27, 2010

As I mentioned in a previous post, my volunteer job for the Sacramento Youth Symphony is to take pictures. All parents are required to volunteer. I used to volunteer in the lobby last year, but this year I found out they wanted pictures so I was totally delighted to take photos!

A shallow imitation of Mozart

My friend Keith asked me to look at some horn arrangements. They were a bit different than the recording so I sat down at the piano and transcribed the parts. It ended up looking something like this:

Photo session with the symphony

My daughter is part of the Sacramento Youth Symphony, and all parents are required to volunteer 10 hours or you pay a fee. Unfortunately, I thought my husband was going to sign us up to volunteer and he thought I was going to sign us up, so between the two of us, neither of us signed up!

Concert at library

Today the Sacramento Youth Symphony Premier Orchestra performed at the Sacramento Library. I had never been there before… imagined a small, stuffy room. Boy, was I wrong! It’s actually a super huge hall attached to the book part of the library. I didn’t bring my camera (we were rushing to get out the door) so all the pictures below were taken from my iPhone… so they were a little crooked and lighting was not too great. But it gives a general idea!
