Protege internship

This year, my church started an internship program called Protege. We have 7 interns who have joined us in different areas such as junior high ministry, children’s ministry, pastoral care, and others. This past two months, I had the privilege of leading them in a class.

Christmas Eve program behind-the-scenes

There has been a long blog hiatus — mostly because:

1. I have been sick and so every free moment has been spent resting.

2. I have been working on the Christmas Eve program for my church, University Covenant.

Now that it is over, it’s time to recover and catch up!

So here’s a summary of what happened…

Protege intern program

My church, University Covenant Church, has a brand new intern program this year, called Protege. We have 7 interns who are experiencing meaningful ministry, intentional community, and intensive discipleship. Oh, and a bit of hazing too…

Wide-margin Bible and Bible atlas

I’m not a person who shops very much, because shopping gives me a headache. I am also on a crusade to declutter my house and get rid of as much stuff as possible.

But recently, I made some purchase that was well worth it and has helped enrich my spiritual life. (Purchases made online, of course. No headache that way.)

I have been back at work for a month after my leave of absence. People have been asking me how it’s been going.

In a nutshell — great!

But very different from before I went on leave.

Nines video on personal health in ministry

Last Tuesday I had the privilege to be one of the “speakers” at the Leadership Network Nines Conference. They had 99 speakers in 9 hours speak on 9 different topics, all broadcast via Internet. Each speaker spoke for 5 minutes. My topic was on maintaining personal health. I’ve uploaded my video to YouTube if you want to watch.

I didn’t have a title for it but the Leadership Network people called it “Ministry is Like Cooking.” Sure, I like that.

Have you ever wondered why you pray for something and God doesn’t answer? Or why you claim God’s promises and it seems like nothing happens?

Last week as I was reading Exodus, a verse helped answer that question.

Breakaway to the Arctic Freeze

This past July, our church put on a summer day camp/Vacation Bible School for the kids. Since I was not there, I didn’t participate in the actual event. But Albert was one of the teachers so I went to help him the two days he was teaching.

Albert was Nunu of the North. He came out bundled up against the elements (good thing there was air conditioning indoors!)
