Creative cohort

In early May, our Sustaining Pastoral Excellence Leadership Cohort had a culmination of a year-long program at a retreat in the Chicago area. The retreat was focused on creativity as well as strategic planning and partnerships. It was a blast!

3 seasons of waiting

Last week, when I was up in Chicago for our pastor’s leadership cohort retreat, we started off with an hour and and a half silent retreat. It was the best way possible to start our time together!

It was also a really cool journey into the first chapter of Luke.

iCare community service day

On April 13, 11 churches in Davis joined together to serve our community. It was an multi-church effort that ended up with over 700 people participating!

There were something like 30 sites, where people helped clean up landscaping, facilities, and interact and work with people of all ages.

Birthday #4

Birthday #4 was celebrated by our church staff. Once a month we have a birthday celebration for all the people who had birthdays that month. Before there were only two of us. I think now there are four! Shelley was so nice and made birthday cakes for us! She made me a red velvet cake because that is one of my favorite cakes! That is so sweet!

Staff whiffle ball

Once a month, our staff brown bags our lunches and eats lunch together. Last month, Shelley, who is the designated Party Girl (formerly known as “Morale Officer”), coordinated so we all had a potluck lunch and then a little after-lunch activity (March 12. I’m way behind in blogging!).

Gary’s goodbye

Today was Gary’s last day as our part-time worship director. We have really appreciated Gary’s time at UCC. Albert and I have known him since back at Bayside.

Marriage Conference

I have done a terrible job booking myself this year. I keep double-booking myself! I am not sure why I keep messing up my schedule.

One of these was that I accidentally booked the church’s marriage conference to start the evening I was flying back from Midwinter Conference!
