Sometimes one is just blown away by people’s kindness.
Our friend Glen wrote at 2 in the morning asking if our kids would like to go with his kids to a water park. So today he picked them up and took them there, treated them to a day at the park, shaved ice, and brought us some yummy mochi when he came back to drop them off.
We certainly didn’t do anything to deserve this kindness but it is such a reminder of God’s grace when He shows us His love through people like Glen and his family. We are soooo grateful! I was so totally blown away! The kids had a total blast.
And then in the evening, my sister invited us over for dessert. She had invited our mutual friends Matt and Joy, so we biked over and had very delicious home-made pound cake, raspberries, blueberries, mandarin oranges and ice cream. We appreciate Corrie and Steve’s generosity and that it is always a place we can go over and hang out when we are feeling lonely at home. (Okay, when I am feeling lonely, as I am the most extroverted person in the family and often need to be out and around other people, much as I love my family!)
And it sure didn’t hurt that I got to hold my cute little nephew, who just sat there looking over my shoulder with big eyes while sucking contentedly on his hand. He didn’t fuss once, and just fell asleep on my shoulder. Later he woke up and just sat there again looking contented. What a totally mellow baby!
Speaking of family, we totally love biking and have been enjoying it lately. But tonight we discovered another interest… playing online Scrabble! Albert, Megan and I started a game together. And I got so lucky… a 7-tile word! “Wordiest.” I had all the letters except “i” and that was on the board. So even though the first turn I only got all consonants and had to forfeit, now the lack of points has been more than made up!
