iPhone cupcakes

I seem to have an interest in creative food. Kind of ironic since I don’t like to cook. But I guess I do like cake decorating.

My friend Helen sent me a link to iPhone cupcakes, a winner of the Cupcake Decorating Contest. Sure was creative!

Doesn’t say how they were made but if I had to guess, I would say these were decorated with fondant. 🙂 I do not particularly care to work with fondant. It is sticky and doughy and cracks pretty easily. I prefer royal icing and icing that comes in a milk quart-looking thing that you whip up in the Kitchenaid mixer and tastes like whipped icing you get from Costco cakes. Ok, I am really showing my ignorance here but it has been years since I decorated cakes and after 4 moves in 2 years I really can’t even remember what they were called. All I know is that they are sold at Smart & Final. (And I have used quarts and quarts of this stuff and don’t even remember what it’s called!!!!) Wow, my memory sure is bad!

One of these days I will pull out my old cake pictures and scan them in…. Nowadays I just enjoy the creativity of other people!

(Note added later: I was right. An article said they used fondant!)
