Today I ended up by a housing development that appears to be called “Vassal States,” if I make out the blurry photo correctly. To be precise, it is at the intersection of Peach Tree Lane and Road 266 in Lewes, Delaware. Quite an odd name but perhaps I got it wrong.
I ended by a housing development of some kind. Look at the size of these yards! Definitely not a California suburban community. 🙂 Yes, this is Delaware. I wonder what the land/housing prices are out there?
Today I ended up by yet another housing development on Hwy 404 by Road 265. What is interesting about this development is it appears every single house has the exact same floorplan.
Here’s another picture to show what I mean:
All the housing developments I have passed seem to look quite new. Hardly any trees.
I ended at a railroad track! I am on Sweet Briar Road.
Here’s my journey from the first week of walking! 12 and a half miles. It’s even less as the crow flies because I wandered off some side roads.
I am still in Lewes, Delaware, according to Delaware. This is very interesting because on the map it looks like I am already a quarter of the way across Delaware. This means either Lewes is a really big town or Delaware is a very small state! (I think it’s the latter…)
It also shows me that I have a very sedentary lifestyle as it’s practically impossible for me to walk 10,000 steps a day without some major effort. I didn’t go into extremes this week in walking as I was still recovering from my cold, but I did walk around for exercise on the treadmill or in the neighborhood and still didn’t hit my 10,000 steps.
Tonight I went on the treadmill and started coughing again (today is Day 8, which I shall report next time). So I don’t think I will get up to my 10,000 steps a day with regularity any time soon.
I also thought it was funny Day 6 and Day 7 I had almost the exact same number of steps (5594 and 5593).
In any case, I am thankful for the pedometer. I am motivated to walk more and see where I end up and I am getting a view of America Delaware as I walk!
