A food kind of day

Well, all my pictures today have to do with food (except one) because I used my SLR to take other photos but don’t have a camera cable. But I will post the pictures tomorrow! However, it means it looks like all we did today was eat. Ah well, I suppose there are worse things once could do. 🙂

We started the morning with the staff wheeling in a little cart of food — so very cute!

It was not a terribly substantial breakfast but was yummy. And we didn’t want to eat too big anyway. Also they had croissants but we didn’t have any of those… otherwise we would have been pretty stuffed.

We tried to walk around and get exercise but it’s not as nice as walking around Davis because there were a lot of cars and people crisscrossing everywhere. So after walking a bit, we stopped by the bakery again and got some treats.

That doesn’t look the most appetizing due the bakery’s choice of colors for plates and tables. But it was sooo delicious. (For scale, that is a little dessert plate, not a full-sized dinner plate.)

We did more walking around and came upon a yarn store. It is going out of business (sadly). But everything was 50-60% or more off, so I got some yarn. I was quite indecisive when I came upon a shelf of pretty colors.

Then we went back and watched the James Bond movie, Quantum of Solace. Pretty amazing fight scenes. But storyline was quite baffling. Even after I searched on the Internet and read up on it I was still baffled by some things.

More walking. We did eat a lot today, but at least we did some walking!

Then to dinner. Very nice restaurant by the river.

I really loved the Nicoise salad, which had raw tuna. Soooo yummy! Especially with egg in it. Salad can never go wrong when there are eggs in it.

Filet mignon with potato gratin and asparagus.

To be honest, it was a bit on the rich side even though the flavors were delicious. I guess I’m not used to eating such rich food any more. I actually liked the other dish better, a yellowfin tuna with basil and cilantro and lemongrass with rice noodles and spices, very Thai in its flavor. It was totally delicious and much lighter.

And there was more from today… but I will wait until tomorrow to blog about it!

After that, a brief stop at Best Buy (we are geeks, after all), and then home to watch Food Network and knit (because we were too lazy to find a place that had a Redbox with the specific movies we wanted to see, and we were also tired). So it was great to just hang out and relax! I feel very much decompressed from a stressful week!
