Dinnertime topics

I actually wrote this post back in June but forgot to post it! So here it is…

A few weeks ago, we started a daily family tradition. Well, it’s not really a tradition. It’s more like a series of questions.

We noticed that during dinner, conversation tended to be:

1) about video games

2) about work

3) silent. Sitting there eating.

This was less than satisfying, as I’d like us to interact on a deeper level. So taking an idea from my friend Jeanne (and I think I heard this from someone else too, but I don’t remember), we ask 4 questions:

1. What made you glad today?

2. What made you sad today?

3. What made you mad today?

4. What did you learn today?

This has been great! We have learned so much more about each other. My favorite one is what we learned. We have learned all sorts of things about history, math, the different chemicals that Albert uses at his work, learnings from the Bible, and insights about people!
