Trick or treating in the office

On  Thursday, we had the opportunity to become a little trick-or-treating lane for the kids in our preschool, University Covenant Nursery School (or UCNS). What fun!

UCNS has a new junior kindergarten program to serve as a bridge for kids between preschool and kindergarten. It was a joy seeing these precious kids troop down the halls, going to the doors in anticipation! But it was also fun seeing the adults light up.

The biggest hit was our children’s ministry director, Glen, who dressed up as Superman and then proceeded to go through his box and try to give kids a roll of duct tape, a screwdriver, and other various supplies, all duly rejected one by one by the kids.

Until… he pulled out a little pack of mayonnaise and one kid said, “I want it! I like mayonnaise!”

I wonder if the kids wondered why Superman had brown hair instead of black, was sitting in an office working at a computer and had duct tape in a shoebox.

Ah well… the wonder and innocence of childhood!
