Grandma’s model home

Due to Albert and my schedules not lining up too well, it’s been really hard to be consistent in going down to the Bay Area. And since both sets of parents live there, it’s always a mad dash to run down, visit my mom quickly, and then visit Albert’s parent’s briefly and then rush home again in time for bed because usually one or the other of us has to work the next day!

So today, with the kids being on spring break, I took a day off and we headed down to the Bay Area to give my mom a long overdue visit. The cool thing was that Albert’s experiment at work ended early so he was able to go with us on the spur of the moment!

My mom was very happy to see us and we were happy to see her too.

Her house looks amazing. It is back on the market and the realtor totally staged it and redecorated it so it looks like a model home now. I wish I had a before picture to show the difference. Just turning the sofa at an angle made a huge difference!

Her living room looks awesome! Her realtor has a good eye. The furniture is the same, just moved around and everything is cleaned up. She brought in new decorations that add a very nice touch!

Dining room…

It also makes a big difference having place settings on the dining table. I don’t know anyone who eats like this, but it sure adds a fantastic feel to the place!

A tray on the bed upstairs is a good idea too.

The bathroom totally looks spacious and beautiful!

Here’s a view from above… Albert and Daniel relaxing. Hmm… the pillows appear to be out of alignment. I think I made Daniel put them back afterwards.

Anyone know someone who would like to buy a really nice house in Union City? We want my mom to move to Davis!

Then my mom took us out for dinner to celebrate my birthday. This picture is funny because it’s totally the typical pose for my kids when taking photos. Megan, with her two fingers up. And Daniel, with his eyes closed. (Every picture I take of Daniel, the first shot always has his eyes closed.)

Megan requested the wonton soup. My mom picked the green beans so we had more veggies.

Albert picked the chow fun.

This was the whole reason we drove down to south Fremont for dinner — the only thing I really wanted to eat for my birthday dinner. In Chinese they are called shao long bao, which means “little”… uh… something… “buns.” “Long” can mean “dragon” but I am not sure if that’s what that word means. Little dragon buns?

Well, whatever they’re called, they are delicious meat-filled steamed buns. I could eat the whole thing myself.

There was other delicious food too but I was so busy eating I forgot to take pictures. It was really nice!

After that, we headed back to Davis. On the way home, because the restaurant was so close to our friends the Lee’s, we popped in briefly just to say hi. It was just like good ole’ times when we would invite ourselves over and then take a nap.

So Albert proceeded to repeat the past.

The kids, however, were a bit more energetic.

Another typical picture… little sister beating up on big brother.

(My kids are such hams. This was a total setup. They did this and said, “Take a picture of us!”)

Albert drove the whole way home while I conked out. Then we cleaned out our kitchen cabinets as tomorrow the counter demolition people come. A week of no kitchen… here we come!

The restaurant is the one on Warm Springs by the old Lion Supermarket. I can’t remember the name but it’s one of the first Chinese restaurants to the left. Thanks for reading the blog! 🙂

I’m reading this particular blog for the umpth time! I’ve forwarded it to many friends. Some commented on my beautiful house, but gave the credit to my realtor (for the decoration) and the nice pictures Angela took. Others commented on my “beautiful daughter, grandchildren and son-in-law”! I can only answer by saying God has truly given me great blessings.
