I used to be a really solid sleeper, but not so these days. I think the enzyme I need to take keeps me awake and messes up my sleep. Here’s a recent sequence of days showing the percentage of each kind of sleep I have been getting. I started using an app to track my sleep just out of curiosity as to why I woke up tired every day.
I use the Sleep Time app, which says that the general guideline is:
- Blue: Deep + REM – 55%
- Green: Light sleep – 40%
- Orange: Awake – 5%
Out of all the days before, this one probably comes closest to those percentages. Notice the nice amounts of blue.
Unfortunately, looking over the weeks, that blue is a bit encroached upon by the green humps. Many of the humps actually should have orange in the middle, because I got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom or remember tossing and turning while awake.
I also redid these charts so they are the same scale. They are lined up according to the time of the night and I stretched/squished them so they are all in scale with each other. One of the things I have been working on is trying to have a regular bedtime. It’s definitely a work in progress… not too successful at it, unfortunately.
Well, now I know why my I walk around and bump into things all the time, why I have constant typos while typing, and why my conversation doesn’t make a whole lot of sense sometimes!
