Daniel’s summer job

Our son is employed! Daniel got a job this summer — his first real regular one. (He used to do a little fencing coaching but it didn’t last very long.) Our son is officially a math tutor!

Since Daniel is now in college, we told him that he needed to find a job this summer. The poor kid found job hunting very stressful, so I took him out one day and drove him around so he could apply for jobs. Unfortunately, there was not too much out there that we could find.

But God provides! Because Daniel needed a reference for one of his applications, we contacted one of our friends. During the phone call, we found out that they needed a math tutor, and Daniel went in and was hired!

Daniel is now one of the tutors at Mathnasium, a math center where kids from elementary to high-school age come in and go through the Mathnasium curriculum. They were short people this summer and so the timing was perfect.

Daniel was very happy when he received his first paycheck.

We are very grateful for our friend’s willingness to take a risk on Daniel, who had never done this before. He is now a regular tutor and is learning lots about how to teach math to a wide variety of kids. I am proud that my son is responsible and takes care of all his own scheduling and transportation. Most of all, we are thankful for God’s guidance in what others might deem a “coincidence.” Not so. God has always provided in ways beyond what we ever expect!
